Zakatul Fitr, commonly known as Fitra, is a compulsory charity that must be given by every eligible Muslim before the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the end of Ramadan. Its purpose is to purify the fasts of the one who fasted from any shortcomings and to ensure that the poor and needy are able to celebrate Eid with dignity and ease.
The obligation of Fitra applies to every Muslim who possesses surplus wealth beyond their basic needs on the night of Eid. It is required on behalf of oneself and all dependents, including children.
How Fitra Is Given
Zakatul Fitr is traditionally given in the form of staple food items. This can be fulfilled by providing food directly to the poor and needy
Who Receives Fitra
Fitra donations are distributed to:
- Widows
- Orphans
- The destitute and extremely poor
This ensures that those most in need can partake in the joy of Eid and are not left struggling on this blessed day.
Importance of Timely Payment
Zakatul Fitr must be paid before the Eid prayer to be valid as Fitra. Any payment made after the Eid prayer is considered general charity rather than Zakatul Fitr.
By contributing to this project, you are helping restore dignity, ease hardship, and spread joy to vulnerable families during one of the most sacred times of the year.
Donate now to fulfil your Zakatul Fitr and bring relief to those in need.
